Interview: LTYC Founder, Dr. Dermell Brunson Talks About LTYC’s Vision & L.O.V.E. Drive On WJZ News!

At Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center (LTYC), we are deeply committed to fostering creativity, academic success, and leadership in young people through the arts. Recently, our Founder and President, Dr. Dermell Brunson, was on CBS News where he spoke about LTYC’s mission and our exciting plans for the future. One of the key highlights was our upcoming Annual Love Drive/Giving Campaign, which aims to bring together the community in support of arts and education programs for youth.

During his interview, Dr. Brunson discussed how LTYC strives to enrich the lives of young people by using the arts as a vehicle for personal development, academic achievement, and leadership. LTYC’s programs are designed to not only expose children to various forms of creative expression like dance, visual arts, music, and theater but also to help them develop critical life skills, build confidence, and unlock their potential as leaders.

Dr. Brunson emphasized the transformative power of the arts, sharing stories of how LTYC has impacted countless young people across Greater Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia. Whether it’s through after-school programs, summer camps, or community events, LTYC provides a safe, supportive environment where children can explore their creativity and grow into the leaders of tomorrow.

The Annual Love Drive/Giving Campaign

In addition to highlighting LTYC’s mission, Dr. Brunson introduced viewers to the Annual Love Drive/Giving Campaign, which is a vital part of the organization’s work. This campaign seeks to raise funds and gather resources to support our arts programs and ensure that young people from underserved communities have access to high-quality arts education.

"The Love Drive isn’t just about giving back—it’s about showing our youth that their dreams and talents matter," Dr. Brunson shared. "Through this campaign, we are able to provide scholarships, program funding, and essential materials for our students, allowing them to thrive in creative spaces."

The Love Drive also encourages community members to get involved by donating, volunteering, or spreading the word about LTYC’s work. As we approach the holiday season, this is a time for all of us to come together and show love and support to the next generation of artists and leaders. Check out this What a PARK(ing) Day.

How You Can Get Involved
